Why store the trailer near the lake

When your boat is moored for the season, the trailer still needs somewhere to go. Launch parking lots aren't meant for months of trailer parking (check the rules where you launch), and towing it home to Spokane means towing it all the way back in the fall to pull the boat.

Keeping it near Fort Spokane solves both problems:

  • The trailer is close by when it's time to haul out in the fall, or if you need to pull the boat mid-season for a repair.
  • It's out of your driveway all summer.
  • If you store the boat with us over the winter, the trailer is already here.

How summer trailer storage works

  1. Launch the boat at Fort Spokane or wherever you're mooring for the season.
  2. Drop the empty trailer at our lot, 44300 State Route 25 N. Access is 24/7, so you can drop it off when it suits you. Call 509-282-5784 first to set up your space.
  3. Leave it for the season.
  4. Pick it up in the fall when you haul out, or any time you need it sooner. Access is 24/7.
  5. Store the boat for winter with us if you want. Pull the boat, bring it back here on the same trailer, and it's stored for the winter.

Before you drop off the trailer

A trailer that sits all summer still needs a little attention:

  • Check the tires. Inflate to the rated pressure. Sun is hard on trailer tires, and covers help.
  • Grease the wheel bearings and look at the hubs, especially if the trailer was just in the water.
  • Rinse it off. Launching leaves lake water, mud, and weeds on the frame and bunks.
  • Check the lights and wiring. Fix any problems now so you're not stuck at the ramp in the fall.
  • Lock the coupler and take off anything loose, like straps or tie-downs you don't need.
  • Take a photo of the trailer and its tires when you drop it off.

When the boat comes out

Fall is when the trailer pays off. Haul the boat out, and you have three choices:

  • Tow it home and store it yourself.
  • Store it with us in an outdoor ($75–$150 a month), covered ($150–$300), or indoor enclosed ($300–$500) space.
  • Use the All-Inclusive Winter Package for $2,200 plus tax: pickup, winterization, shrink wrap, winter storage, spring commissioning, a detail, and delivery back to you.

Whichever you pick, winterize the engine before the first hard freeze. Check nps.gov/laro for current lake levels and ramp conditions before you plan the haul-out.
